I finally had the chance at a perfect life when I met the man I was supposed to be with But hes gone and chances like that dont come along twice in one lifetime Right Former president Everett Shaw had his whole life laid out for him from the time he was a child and he lived out every expectation to complete and utter perfection until he met the one man who changed everything With plans to leave public life behind after finishing his term in office, Everett was looking forward to a quiet life with the man of his dreams at his side But one brutal act of violence stole that bright future away, leaving Everett struggling just to get through each day.A decade later finds Everett nearing the age of sixty and living a shell of a life Haunted by his loss, he finds solace in his roses and evenings sitting in front of the television But when his estranged son is horribly injured while saving the life of another, Everett leaves everything behind in the hopes of mending the broken relationship and helping his son heal in ways than one.My job is to protect and there are rules that have to be followed Even if there werent, I wouldnt risk letting anyone close not again.Special Agent Jonathan Nashs job is to keep the former president safe, not be his friend Even if something about the lonely older man draws him in, hes not about to risk whats left of his career for anything And its not like a guy like Everett Shaw would really see him anyway Nor would he want him to, considering the ugly past Nash left behind to pursue his dream No, hes better off following protocol and doing his job Let someone else deal with the broken man Its not his problem it cant be.I learned a long time ago to live life on my terms and that sometimes you have to take that leap of faith to get what you want But wanting two men at the same time Thats new, even for me.At forty five years old, former Navy SEAL Gage Fortier has experienced success and loss in equal measure, and while his life has taken a direction he never planned, he wouldnt have it any other way When Reese, the young man hes partnered with in the underground vigilante group they both work for, is injured on the job, he sees an opportunity to build on the friendship with the bitter former soldier while giving him a place to recover But when he discovers that the young man is actually the estranged son of a former U.S president, Gage realizes he has the chance to give both father and son so much Theres only one problem with his plan how to ignore his growing attraction for the devishly handsome Everett Shaw. And Everetts perpetual shadow, Agent Nash.Three men on very separate courses Until something unexpected happens and three become one TRIGGER WARNING This book has a couple of triggers You can check out what they are by downloading the sample or using the Look Inside feature and scrolling to the appropriate page Note that reading the trigger warnings could cause spoilers Can be read as a standalone novel. The Protectors series crosses over with some of my other series, so for the most enjoyment, they should be read in order, but it is not required You can find the correct reading order at the beginning of each book Ive also bundled all my series in the correct reading order under the title of A Family Chosen The Protectors and Barrettis....

Unexpected (The Protectors, Book 10) (English Edition) Reviews
Great book; Great series. I have enjoyed reading all Sloane Kennedy's novels. The MCs are strong men, who have gone through life experiences that would break most people, but they come back even stronger. They meet the man or men who are their soul mate. In Unexpected, Everett Shaw, a past US President, thought he had loved and tragically lost his soul mate. Now he is drawn to two men at the same time. He does not want one without the other. They all feel this unexpected attraction. And it works.
Let’s start by saying I am a huge fan of Sloane Kennedy. Regardless of what she writes I have enjoyed and adored every single book. I generally do not like series that have more than a few books in them as they tend to be the same story, plot and characteristics with the names being changed but Kennedy is one of the few authors who gives each book a new, fresh feel, look and story. Not one couple/plot is the same. They are unique and diverse and that’s why I love reading her books. We might see the same characters pop up here and there but each book’s main focus is the MCs.Even though I love Kennedy’s books and also ménage stories I still get giddy and nervous starting a new ménage story because the connection HAS to be there from all 3 MCs, the story HAS to have more than sexy times, the feels and goosebumps HAVE to be there and JFC……KENNEDY NAILED IT. If you don’t fall in love with Everett, Nash and Gage than I’m not sure if there’s any hope for you….hahahahahahaha. Just kidding – You don’t have to like them but I hope you give them a try.The writing is incredible, the character development and multiple story lines help keep the flow of the book smooth and effortless. Besides the relationship of Everett, Gage and Nash we also get the relationship (or lack thereof) with Everett and his son. Of course there are a few of our favorites who pop up through the book. It’s an intense read (ain’t gonna lie). You will feel that familiar gut wrenching – hold your breath – heart pounding sensation. You will be holding onto to hope and love that Kennedy can put you back together.Unexpected is in the top 5 favorites of Ms. Kennedy. It doesn’t matter which couple is next – which series she is going to write – I will always HANDS DOWN read it. Thank you Ms. Kennedy for giving us another fantastic book for us to fall in love with. You are truly a phenomenal writer.
The latest book in The Protectors Series takes place on the periphery of the Barretti/Protectors world, in that the characters are not central to that family, but are just as important. While Reece (one of Ronan's employees and the son of a former POTUS) recovers from the injuries he sustained protecting Brody (from Finding Hope), Reece's father, Everett (said former POTUS and Protectors' ally) is beside himself with worry, grief and hope that his relationship with his estranged son can be repaired. To aid in Reece's convalescence, Reece's work partner, Gage, offers his secluded home, extending the invitation to Everett and, by default, Secret Service Agent Jonathan Nash.As the three men work together to protect Reece from the public eye and help him heal, they find strength, support and a whole lot of chemistry between them. The past traumas and failings each man works through as their relationship with each other grows works to strengthen the bonds of trust and the growing love between them, even as Everett and Reece's relationship makes tentative progress forward. Ms Kennedy excels at bringing the readers smack into the middle of an emotional mess and these three men have a lot to work through if they're going to cement their relationship.Well done, Ms Kennedy, and I look forward to your next installment!
Former POTUS Everett Shaw has been living a lie. Because of his very public life he has been hiding who he is. Ten years after the death of the love of his life, Everett continues to mourn the loss as if it was yesterday. Johnathan Nash, Secret Service agent assigned to protect the former President falls hard for the handsome man but he has plenty of demons of his own to battle. Reese Shaw, estranged son of the former president is injured and Everett goes to be with him even though his attention is unwanted.. Gage Fortier, fellow member of the vigilante group Reese works for offers to help Reese in his recovery but at the same time finds himself attracted to Everett and Nash. Sparks fly and in true Sloane Kennedy fashion a beautiful relationship develops that finally helps heal these men. It's an emotional rollercoaster but a beautifully written story. Five stars Sloane! You NEVER disappoint!
This was definitely my least favorite book in this series. I just didn't believe Everett in his own book, and I also had problems with Nash and Gage. While the story was engaging, and entertaining, I didn't feel that the reactions of the men were quite right. I didn't believe that anyone who had thrived in politics and been the President of the United States would end up being so passive as Everett. I didn't understand why Nash wouldn't have fought with everything he could, including his sexuality, to keep his trajectory to his goal of protecting the President on track. I didn't really buy into Gage fitting in with Ronan's group.Overall, it was fun to see the development of their relationship, but I'm much more excited to learn about Reese and see his HEA than I was with any of the men here.
Ok Sloane, ok Sloane.. I get it. Now firstly let me say, I don’t like ménage... so 5 Stars you may ask, well, this book, and this series is bloody brilliant, so how could I not read it even though the m/m/m doesn’t tickle my fancy, but the one thing I like about Sloane’s multimen is they tend not to get it on without the three of them together, I read a ménage book part of a series the other day and Argh!!! It was pot luck, one didn’t even live with the other two and they were sexing it up without the other... just no!. This story has it all, and Sloane can sure write a sex scene... holy cow.. it was hot hot hot.. there was a really cool twist just before 90% I didn’t see coming so that was awesome, and I couldn’t be happier to see Reese get his story, but Jace and Caleb... please hurry, I can’t wait for it, it’s been a long time coming..
